Does CloudBerry Backup support Mac OS X platform?No, it is Windows only. Check out Arq Backup by Haystack Software if you need a backup program designed for Mac.


If I purchase one license can I activate CloudBerry Backup on two computers?CloudBerry Backup is licensed per computer. If you want to run it on two computers you need to buy two licenses.


Who can get a free license for CloudBerry Backup?Bloggers and individual related to non-profit and education. However we only offer up to 3 free license to the shops. Why? b/c when we grant a license we are also eligible for providing a first class support in the same way as we provide it to our paying customers.


What I need to start using CloudBerry Backup?You need to have Amazon S3 account. It takes just a couple of minutes to get one on Amazon S3 website.

How much does it costs to use CloudBerry Backup?You pay onetime fee of $29.99 (US) to CloudBerry Lab. This includes one year free updates and email support.
You also have to pay Amazon S3 storage and transfer fees. Amazon storage fees start at $.15/months per GB of data. Transfer fees start at $.10 per GB of data transferred.

Will CloudBerry Backup copy opened files?Yes, CloudBerry Backup leverages Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Technology to backup opened files


How CloudBerry Backup minimizes my costs?CloudBerry Backup offers optional data compression that helps to lower transfer and storage costs significantly. In addition CloudBerry Backup only copies files that have been changed since the last backup, thus transfer and storage costs should be minimum required


How CloudBerry Backup secures my data?CloudBerry Backup offers several industry standard strong encryption algorithms to protect your data. In addition you can optionally protect access to CloudBerry Backup with a master password


How master password works?The master password helps you to protect your backup files from unauthorized access. Only someone who knows master password can start CloudBerry Backup. Master password is optional and off by default


Can I access my files using other Amazon S3 clients?Amazon S3 clients are free to invent their own ways to store files on Amazon S3. However we designed CloudBerry Backup to be compatible with the most popular freeware clients such as S3 Fox, S3 Browser, S3 Hub, Transmit and of course CloudBerry Explorer


Does CloudBerry Backup copies all files every time it runs?No, CloudBerry Backup identifies files modified since last backup and only copies such files. This makes subsequent backups run much faster


How CloudBerry Backup recognizes modified files?We are using timestamp to idenftify modified files


Can CloudBerry Backup copy only modified portion of the file? I want to backup my Outlook PST file, but it is 2GB and I don't want to copy the whole file every time.This is called block-level backup and we currently can't do that. However we are actively looking for a way to add such capability to CloudBerry Backup.


Can I integrate CloudBerry Backup with my other routines?Yes, we have a command line interface and C# API. Each provided with documentation and examples. There is even a test app to demonstrate C# API capabilities


Can CloudBerry Backup use NAS device as a backup destination?Not at the moment, but we are looking into it. No other plans to share is the moment


Does CloudBerry Backup keep older versions of the file?Yes, and this feature gives you an ability to restore a file to a certain point in the past.


Can I control how many versions of the file to keep? Yes, you can control how many versions to keep using Purge Options. Check our here for more details.


If I delete a file on my local computer is it also deleted from backup storage? No, it will remain on backup storage along with all older versions. In the future release we will introduce on option to delete the file from backup storage if it was deleted locally, but you will have to be very carefull when using this option.
